Most AI visibility tracking tools have almost no visibility in AI engines themselves.
We ran 8 checks across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity in August 2026, asking each engine the same question twice: "Which AI visibility tracking tool should I use?" Only four tools were named at all. The rest, including SeeMySaas, were absent from every answer.
That dataset is the backbone of this article. Not marketing claims, not feature lists pulled from landing pages. Primary research: which tools do the engines actually recommend when a buyer asks?
What did the AI engines recommend?

Across 8 checks (2 per engine), the engines named just four tools. Most of the answer space went to generic advice or broader SEO suites like Semrush.
| Tool | Named in | Engines |
|---|---|---|
| Peec AI | 2 of 8 | Gemini, Perplexity |
| Profound | 1 of 8 | Perplexity |
| Otterly.AI | 1 of 8 | Perplexity |
| Rankscale | 1 of 8 | Perplexity |
Five other tracked tools, including SeeMySaas, SEObot, RankYak, Search Atlas, and Morningscore, appeared in zero of the 8 checks.
No single tool dominated. Even Peec AI, the most frequently named, showed up in only a quarter of the answers. The category is young enough that no brand has locked in the kind of engine trust that, say, Ahrefs or Semrush hold for traditional SEO queries.
What did the engines actually say?
Direct quotes matter more than summary. Here is what two engines returned, verbatim.
Gemini, answering this question in August 2026:
"Peec AI: Focuses on citation analysis, brand sentiment, and average position, particularly useful for agencies managing multiple clients. Frase: Tracks where AI search cites your brand across multiple LLMs and connects this..."
Perplexity, answering this question in August 2026:
"The best AI visibility tracking tool depends on your budget and use case: Profound is the strongest choice for enterprise teams, Peec AI and Otterly.AI are solid for smaller budgets, and Semrush is best if you already use a broader SEO suite."
Two patterns stand out. First, Perplexity was the only engine that named more than one dedicated tracking tool. ChatGPT and Claude named zero. Second, the engines consistently framed the answer around buyer segments (enterprise vs. small budget vs. existing SEO suite users) rather than declaring a single winner.
Which tool fits which buyer?

Based on what the engines surfaced and our own research, the category splits along three lines.
Enterprise teams running multi-brand portfolios. Perplexity positioned Profound as the strongest choice here. Across our broader question cluster (16 checks on AI visibility topics), Profound appeared in 6 of 16, the highest of any dedicated tool. If you need prompt ideation, brand visibility scoring, and coverage across multiple LLMs at scale, Profound is the name the engines return most often.
Agencies managing multiple clients. Gemini specifically described Peec AI as "particularly useful for agencies managing multiple clients," highlighting citation analysis, brand sentiment, and average position tracking. Peec AI appeared in 2 of 8 checks for this question and 4 of 16 across the broader cluster.
Budget-conscious teams wanting entry-level monitoring. Perplexity grouped Otterly.AI alongside Peec AI as "solid for smaller budgets." Otterly.AI appeared in 1 of 8 checks here and 4 of 16 across the wider cluster.
Teams already using an SEO suite. Perplexity explicitly recommended Semrush for users who already have a broader SEO toolkit. Semrush is not a dedicated AI visibility tracker, but its brand authority means engines default to it as a safe recommendation.
Tools the engines did not name for this question
Five tools we track were absent from all 8 checks: SeeMySaas, SEObot, RankYak, Search Atlas, and Morningscore.
That does not mean they lack useful features. It means that when a buyer asks this exact question today, the engines do not surface them. For a category where the product's job is literally to improve AI visibility, that absence is worth noting.
SeeMySaas was not recommended in any of the 8 checks. We publish this because the data demands it. SeeMySaas does appear as a cited source in AI answers to other buyer questions (15 of 82 answers checked across 21 buyer questions in August 2026), which means the engines trust the content but do not yet associate the brand with this product category. That gap is the problem this tool is built to solve, and we are working through it in public.
Rankscale, which was named in 1 of 8 checks here, appeared in 4 of 92 answers across our full 24-question tracking set. SEObot, RankYak, Search Atlas, and Morningscore each appeared in 1 or fewer of those 92 answers.
What does each tool cost?
Pricing in this category ranges from under $20/mo to enterprise-custom. The table below covers the tools we track. For tools whose pricing pages could not be scraped as of August 27, 2026, we list "See site" rather than guess.
| Tool | Starting Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rankscale | $20/mo (USD) | Essentials plan. Pro at $99/mo, Growth at $385/mo. |
| Otterly.AI | See site | Pricing page returned HTTP 403 as of 2026-08-27. |
| SEObot | $49/mo (USD) | Listed on homepage; pricing page showed placeholder content. |
| RankYak | $49/mo (USD) | Starter plan. Professional at $129/mo. |
| Morningscore | $69/mo (USD) | Lite plan. Business at $99/mo, Pro at $159/mo. Annual billing gives 2 months free. |
| Peec AI | See site | Tiers from Starter to Enterprise visible on pricing page; amounts did not render. |
| Profound | See site | Pricing page returned empty content on fetch attempts. |
| Search Atlas | $99/mo (USD) | Starter plan. Growth at $199/mo. |
| SeeMySaas | $99/mo (USD) | No contract; $990/yr (two months free). |

How should you read this data?
Eight checks is a small sample. We say that plainly. This is not a statistically significant study of engine behavior. It is a repeatable, dated snapshot: the same question, asked twice to each of four engines, in August 2026.
Its value is specificity. Most "best tool" articles list features from marketing pages. This one reports what the engines actually said when asked. You can run the same checks yourself and compare.
The broader pattern from our 24-question tracking set is that Peec AI (9 of 92 answers), Profound (7 of 92), and Otterly.AI (7 of 92) are the three tools engines name most often across AI visibility topics. Rankscale appears in 4 of 92. Everything else is at 1 or below.
FAQ
Is there a free AI visibility tracking tool?
None of the dedicated tools we track offer a permanent free tier. Rankscale starts at $20/mo, which is the lowest confirmed entry point. Some tools may offer trials, but we could not verify trial availability from their live pages as of August 2026.
Which AI engines recommend the most tools?
In our 8 checks for this question, Perplexity named four tools (Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Rankscale). Gemini named one (Peec AI). ChatGPT and Claude named zero dedicated AI visibility trackers.
How often do AI engine recommendations change?
We do not have longitudinal data yet. This is an August 2026 snapshot. Engine answers shift as new content is indexed and model weights update. Running your own checks monthly is the only way to track movement for your specific brand.
Why wasn't SeeMySaas recommended?
The engines cite SeeMySaas content as a source (15 of 82 answers across 21 buyer questions), but they do not yet associate the brand with the AI visibility tracking category strongly enough to recommend it by name. Building that association is an ongoing process, and publishing primary research like this article is part of the strategy.
